CHAPEL HILL — Harrison Ingram scored a season-high 22 points as No. 9 North Carolina rallied from a 10-point deficit in the second half and beat North Carolina State 79-70. Elliot Cadeau scored 15 points and RJ Davis finished with 14 after being held to two in the first half. Armando Bacot added 13 points for North Carolina, which won its fourth straight game and maintained its hold on first place in the ACC, ahead of Duke. Jayden Taylor hit five 3-pointers and finished with 22 points, and DJ Horne scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half for NC State, which lost for the third time in four games.
NC State hosts No. 10 Duke on Monday.
North Carolina hosts Notre Dame on Tuesday.
Duke 73, Virginia 48
DURHAM — Kyle Filipowski scored 21 points and No. 10 Duke shot 59% before halftime to build a huge lead on the way to beating Virginia 73-48. Tyrese Proctor added 15 points for the Blue Devils, who stayed near the top of the league race primarily on the strength of a dominant first half. That included the 7-foot Filipowski outscoring Virginia through the opening 15 minutes as Duke rolled to a 25-point lead before halftime and owned the interior by finishing with 44 points in the paint. Reece Beekman had 18 points and Isaac McKneely added 12 points for the Cavaliers.
The Blue Devils get a short trip and turnaround, visiting North Carolina State on Monday night.
Virginia Tech 87, Wake Forest 76
BLACKSBURG, VA—Hunter Cattoor scored 26 points shooting 5 for 10 from 3-point range and Lynn Kidd scored 21 points and Virginia Tech rallied in the second half to beat Wake Forest 87-76. Kevin Miller scored 14 of his 21 points in the first half for Wake Forest. Hunter Sallis gave Wake Forest its last lead with a jumper with 14:42 remaining for a 52-51 advantage. Virginia Tech then took control outscoring Wake Forest 20-8 over nearly the next seven minutes for its first double-digit lead at 71-60 with 7:59 to go.
Wake Forest hosts Georgia Tech on Tuesday.
Campbell 64, NC A&T 62
BUIES CREEK — Jasin Sinani scored 14 points as Campbell beat N.C. A&T 64-62. Sinani added 11 rebounds for the Fighting Camels (14-17, 8-10 Coastal Athletic Association). Anthony Dell’Orso added 14 points and had seven rebounds. Laurynas Vaistaras had 13 points.
The Aggies (7-24, 5-13) were led in scoring by Camian Shell, who finished with 22 points and six assists. Jalal McKie added 21 points and eight rebounds for N.C. A&T. Nikolaos Chitikoudis also had 10 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. The Aggies extended their losing streak to nine straight.
Both teams next play in the CAA Tournament in Washington, D.C. A&T faces William & Mary on Friday, while Campbell plays Monmouth on Saturday.
NC Central 83, Coppin State 58
BALTIMORE — Keishon Porter’s 21 points helped North Carolina Central defeat Coppin State 83-58. Porter added six rebounds for the Eagles (16-11, 8-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Josh Smith had 16 points. Fred Cleveland Jr. finished with 13 points, while adding 15 assists and three steals.
Central next plays at Morgan State on Monday.
Western Carolina 82, Chattanooga 63
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Vonterius Woolbright finished with a triple-double, Tre Jackson added 20 points and Western Carolina beat Chattanooga 82-63 on Saturday.
Woolbright scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to go with 10 assists. Jackson shot 7 for 13, including 6 for 9 from beyond the arc for the Catamounts (22-9, 11-7 Southern Conference). Russell Jones was 6-of-11 shooting to finish with 15 points.
Western next plays Furman in the SoCon Tournament Quarterfinals in Asheville on Saturday.
UNC Wilmington 75, Towson 64
WILMINGTON — Shykeim Phillips’ 17 points helped UNC Wilmington defeat Towson 75-64 on Saturday.
Phillips had four steals for the Seahawks (21-9, 12-6 Coastal Athletic Association). Trazarien White scored 16 points, going 3 of 14 and 10 of 11 from the free throw line. Maleeck Harden-Hayes was 5 of 8 shooting, including 4 for 5 from 3-point range, and went 1 for 3 from the line to finish with 15 points.
UNCW next plays on Sunday against the winner of a Saturday game in the CAA Tournament in Washington, D.C.
UNC Asheville 71, Radford 62
RADFORD, Va. — Drew Pember’s 25 points helped UNC Asheville defeat Radford 71-62 on Saturday.
Pember added six rebounds for the Bulldogs (20-11, 12-4 Big South Conference). Fletcher Abee shot 8 for 18, including 5 for 13 from beyond the arc to add 21 points. Toyaz Solomon had 10 points and finished 5 of 7 from the field.
Josiah Harris finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Highlanders (15-16, 5-11). Chandler Turner added 13 points and seven rebounds for Radford. In addition, Kenyon Giles had 12 points and four assists.
UNC-Asheville next plays against Charleston Southern in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament in High Point on Friday.
Gardner-Webb 65, Winthrop 64
ROCK HILL, S.C. — Lucas Stieber sank a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to rally Gardner-Webb to a 65-64 victory over Winthrop on Saturday.
Julien Soumaoro made three 3-pointers and scored 13 to lead the Runnin’ Bulldogs (16-15, 11-5 Big South Conference). Caleb Robinson and Isaiah Richards added 11 points apiece. Robinson grabbed seven rebounds. Stieber scored six on 2-for-5 shooting from 3-point range.
Gardner-Webb next plays Presbyterian on Friday in the Quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament.
Longwood 74, High Point 72
FARMVILLE, Va. — Johnathan Massie’s 16 points helped Longwood defeat High Point 74-72 on Saturday night.
Longwood scored the last four points on a layup by Szymon Zapala with 17 seconds left and a one-handed scoop layup by Walyn Napper in the final second.
The Panthers (24-7, 13-3) were led in scoring by Abdoulaye Thiam, who finished with 21 points. Duke Miles added 18 points and two steals for High Point. In addition, Kezza Giffa had 15 points and two steals.
High Point next plays at home, against the winner of a Thursday game in Friday’s quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament.
ETSU 66, UNC Greensboro 65
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Jaden Seymour scored 18 points and Quimari Peterson had a go-ahead layup with four seconds left to rally East Tennessee State to a 66-65 victory over UNC Greensboro.
Seymour added six rebounds for the Buccaneers (16-15, 8-10 Southern Conference). Peterson finished with 14 points and five assists. Ebby Asamoah hit two 3-pointers and scored 14. Keyshaun Langley finished with 25 points to lead the Spartans (21-10, 12-6). Donovan Atwell added 18 points.
UNC G next plays in Asheville on Saturday, in the Quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament.
USF 76, Charlotte 61
CHARLOTTE — Chris Youngblood scored 17 points, Kasean Pryor had 16 points and nine rebounds, and 25th-ranked South Florida defeated Charlotte 76-61 on Saturday for its 14th consecutive victory. Selton Miguel chipped in with 13 points for the Bulls, who’ve not lost since Jan. 7 and entered the AP Top 25 for the first time in school history earlier this week. Lu’Cye Patterson had 17 points for Charlotte, which had its eight-game home win streak snapped.
Charlotte next hosts Rice on Wednesday night.
UMass 69, Davidson 67
DAVIDSON — Matt Cross led UMass with 26 points and gave the Minutemen the lead with two free throws with 28 seconds remaining in a 69-67 win over Davidson on Saturday.
Cross also contributed five rebounds for the Minutemen (19-10, 10-7 Atlantic 10 Conference). Rahsool Diggins shot 4 for 8, including 4 for 6 from beyond the arc to add 13 points. Daniel Hankins-Sanford was 5 of 12 shooting to finish with 10 points.
Reed Bailey led the Wildcats (15-14, 5-11) in scoring, finishing with 22 points. Connor Kochera added 16 points and six rebounds for Davidson. Grant Huffman also had 14 points and nine assists.
Davidson next hosts Loyola, Ill on Wednesday.
Monmouth 85, Elon 70
ELON — Xander Rice’s 31 points led Monmouth over Elon 85-70 on Saturday.
Rice was 9 of 21 shooting, including 6 for 15 from 3-point range, and went 7 for 7 from the line for the Hawks (17-14, 10-8 Coastal Athletic Association). Jaret Valencia scored 15 points while going 6 of 10 and 2 of 4 from the free throw line, and added eight rebounds. Nikita Konstantynovskyi was 4 of 9 shooting and 5 of 6 from the free throw line to finish with 13 points, while adding 13 rebounds.
The Phoenix (13-18, 6-12) were led by TK Simpkins, who recorded 31 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. Nick Dorn added 11 points for Elon.
Elon next plays Hampton on Friday in the CAA Tournament in Washington, D.C.
