RALEIGH – State Sens. Ralph Hise (R-Mitchell), Warren Daniel (R-Burke), and Paul Newton (R-Cabarrus) introduced a pair of bills on Friday to draw the state Senate and Congressional map.
The Congressional map, which adds a new 14th seat in the state, adds a suburban Charlotte-area seat and shifts the locations of many of the state’s districts to account for changes in population since 2011.

The new state Senate map gives a new whole county district to Johnston County, and shows the affect of population changes within the Stephenson groupings.

In an NSJ report from Thursday, legislators are expected to approve new maps next week.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
