RALEIGH — A rally for Parents Rights has been scheduled to take place at Ace Speedway located in Elon on October 9.
The family is the foundational building block for a free society. In almost all cases, parents have a natural right to make decisions on behalf of their minor children,” Charlie Mulligan, Education Activist, U.S. Congressional candidate, and organizer of the event told North State Journal. “But we’ve forgotten this important truth, and that failure is bipartisan.”
The event, “Taking Back Our Children,” is billed as a family-friendly event that will feature a number of education activist groups and various speakers. The rally will take place from two to four p.m. Ace Speedway’s address is 3401 Altamahaw Racetrack Rd.
“Too many of our leaders believe the lie that the State is primarily responsible for our kids. But it’s not. Parents are,” said Mulligan. “And it’s time parents took their rights back.”
The event takes place following a letter sent to the Biden Administration by the National School Boards Association which asks for school boards to be protected using mechanisms like the PATRIOT Act.
The letter describes protests at school boards as violent, and are a form of domestic terrorism.
“As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes,” the letter reads in part.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about the letter and she said the administration was considering all of their options.
A “resource fair” will take place during the event, with various parents’ rights groups and grassroots organizations will have tables set up for people to get information about how to get involved or get help
Mulligan said that there will six to seven parents’ rights organizations on hand and there will be speakers from the following organizations:
- Take Back our Schools Guilford County
- Carolina Teacher’s Alliance
- Strong Schools Charlotte
- Children First NC *
- Unmask our Kids Davidson County
- Blexit
Also on hand will be various candidates and political officials such as Ken Harper, candidate for U.S. Senate; Omar Lugo, of the Alamance County Republican Party; and Ken Raymond, of the Forsyth County Republican Party.
Mulligan said there will also be a “secret keynote speaker” who is an elected official from North Carolina.
