MORRISVILLE, N.C. The U.S. Department of Defense has warned against the use of Lenovo gear due to cybersecurity concerns, according to a intelligence directorate report. The Pentagon is concerned Lenovo can be compromised by China, which is where the tech company is headquartered. Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-9th) said he was worried about the report. “Chinese cyber security and supply chain concerns remain a significant problem for both the Defense Department and the remainder of the federal government,” Pittenger said. The report comes after the House Judiciary Committee told the head of the FBI that two Lenovo laptops were connected to Hillary Clinton’s private email server and data could have possibly been compromised. The latest Defense Department report is added to the list of concerns since Lenovo acquired IBM’s x86 server business for more than $2 billion in 2014.
