Wake Forest announced Wednesday that it will play a regular season game against Notre Dame at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium on Sept. 26, 2020. “We have a lot of alumni in the Charlotte area and we brought 20,000 people with us when we played in the bowl game in 2007,” Wake athletic director Ron Wellman said in a statement. “We will still have six games in our home stadium in 2020 and this is a great opportunity for us to play in an NFL stadium. Notre Dame has a strong following and when you look at both teams, this could be a very good game.” The Deacons and Irish were already scheduled to play a home-and-home series, with the Deacons traveling to South Bend on Nov. 4, 2017, then hosting the Irish at BB&T Field on Nov. 17, 2018. The teams have played twice previously, with Notre Dame winning both — in South bend in 2012 and Winston-Salem last season.
