East Carolina and Appalachian State have reportedly come to terms on a series in football for future dates. The two schools are set to announce the upcoming series at joint press conference on Tuesday at Bank of America Stadium.Announcing the news in the Carolina Panthers home field isn’t by chance, according to Bret Strelow of the Winston-Salem Journal. The Mountaineers and Pirates will reportedly announce, along with the Charlotte Sports Foundation, that the two teams will at least hold one contest in Bank of America Stadium.Both East Carolina and Appalachian State denied comment on the series, opting to wait until the official announcement on Tuesday.Holding a game in Charlotte is a perfect meeting place for the two teams, but also gives a capacity larger than the two stadiums combined. With Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium’s capacity at 50,000 and Kidd Brewer Stadium’s at nearly 24,000, the 75,000-seat capacity should fit both rabid fan bases.ECU holds a 19-12 advantage in the series, but the two teams haven’t faced since 2012 — a 35-13 win for the Pirates. Since that game, the Mountaineers have joined the Sun Belt Conference and won a conference title along with two bowls over the last two seasons.Dates, ticket sales and other details will be revealed on Tuesday during the joint press conference.
