The President is expected will tour facilities that are used in support of manufacturing of key components of the COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by Novavax. Following the tour, the President will deliver remarks where he is expected to discuss the collaboration between his Administration and the private sector to rapidly develop a vaccine for COVID-19, and ensure accelerated manufacturing and distribution once ready.

Next week’s visit will tout the administration’s efforts cutting bureaucratic red tape and the unprecedented partnerships forged between private companies and the federal government to expedite the timeline for development and approval of a COVID-19 vaccine.

A key part of FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, the Bioprocess Innovation Center first opened in 2016 in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The three-story, 62,000 square foot facility houses FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies’ Process and Analytical Research Development, Process Sciences and Stability groups.

In these laboratories, FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies develops processes that are designed to rapidly lead to efficient, robust and high quality bio manufacturing. FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies is manufacturing bulk drug substance for NVX-CoV2373, Novavax’ COVID-19 vaccine candidate, which is currently in a Phase 1 clinical trial, and is expected to progress into Phase 2 in mid-August and Phase 3 in the fall.

This will be President Trump’s 10th official trip to North Carolina during his administration.
