Cam Serigne, whose 100 career receptions are tied for third in school history among tight ends and whose nine touchdown catches is already a Deacons’ record, is among the four state players named Tuesday to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award. Serigne has caught a pass in all 24 of his games at Wake and has amassed 1,093 receiving yards in his first three college seasons. Also on the list for the award honoring the nation’s top college tight end are North Carolina’s Brandon Fritts, NC State’s Cole Cook and Duke’s Daniel Helm. In addition to the Mackey Award, the preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy was also announced Tuesday. Cam Dillard, a graduate transfer from Florida who will play his final season of eligibility at North Carolina this fall, heads the state contingent that also includes Duke’s Austin Davis, Wake Forest’s Ryan Anderson and East Carolina’s Garrett McGhin. The Rimington Trophy recognizes the top center in college football.
