Bob Richeson, 91, of Wilson, NC, talks with his wife Gerry as they examine the world’s only flying B-24J Liberator during the Wings of Freedom Tour at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, October 19, 2017. Richeson was a nose gunner in a B-24 in WWII that crashed and was one of only three crew members that survived. He still has trouble talking about the event. Hosted by the Collings Foundation, Wings of Freedom visits more than 100 cities a year to show off working pieces of American war history as well as to educate people about the veterans of WWII. The tour will be in Burlington, NC until 12 pm on Oct. 25 and then move to Statesville, NC through Oct. 27. (Eamon Queeney / North State Journal)
