RALEIGH — The coronavirus outbreak continues to impact events across the state as the N.C. Azalea Festival, a springtime tradition, has also been cancelled. In a statement, festival organizers said they were cancelling the entire event “out of an abundance of caution.”

“We have been closely monitoring the decisions to cancel other local and state festivals and events; realizing that there are many factors unique to each events’ decision to cancel,” the organization said in a press release. “Our decision was made at the direction of State and local officials.“

According to the release, some events may be rescheduled later in 2020.
