Thursday was a slow day for players with North Carolina ties at the NBA’s Las Vegas Summer League.

Although the tournament is in its playoff phase, many of the 30 teams involved have seen all they need to see from their recent draft picks and top second-year players over the past two weeks and decided to shut them down for the rest of the event.

Among those sitting out their team’s games Thursday were Wake Forest’s John Collins, the tournament’s leading scorer for the Atlanta Hawks, Utah Jazz teammates Grayson Allen (Duke) and Tony Bradley (North Carolina), Duke’s Frank Jackson of the New Orleans Pelicans and Raleigh native Jerome Robinson of Boston College, the first-round pick of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Among those that did see action, one-and-done Duke shooting guard Gary Trent Jr. had the only performance of note by scoring 10 points, to go along with six rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Portland Trailblazers in their 95-69 win against the Collins-less Hawks.

Play in the Vegas Summer League will continue today with games in the consolation bracket.
