East Carolina has become synonymous with record-setting wide receivers, with Justin Hardy and Zay Jones setting a high standard for others to follow.

Saturday, junior Trevon Brown added his name to the books while earning co-Offensive Player of the Week honors from the American Athletic Conference.

Brown caught nine passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Pirates’ 48-20 Senior day victory against Cincinnati. In the process, the Wilmington native broke Hardy’s school record — while setting a new conference mark — for most receiving yards in a game. The 270 yards were the second-most by an FBS player this season.

His 95-yard scoring catch from quarterback Gardner Minshew tied the ECU and AAC record he set with a similar 95-yarder earlier this season against West Virginia.

Brown had five catches of 20 or more yards in the victory, including a 20-yard touchdown pass from backup Reid Herring. For the season, he has 53 receptions for 941 yards and a team-leading seven touchdowns.

Brown is the fourth ECU player this season to be named on the AAC’s weekly honor roll. Quarterback Thomas Sirk and receiver Davon Grayson shared Offensive Player of the Week recognition on Sept. 25. Kicker Jake Verity was Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 23.

The rest of this week’s AAC honor roll includes Central Florida quarterback McKenzie Milton as co-Offensive Player of the Week, South Florida linebacker Auggie Sanchez as Defensive Player of the Week, and USF kicker Emilio Nadelman as Special Teams Player of the Week.

In addition, Minshew was also honored Monday by the Manning Award as one of its eight “stars of the week.”
