In preparation for its move to FCS scholarship status as a member of the Big South Conference next season, Campbell on Sunday announced several upgrades to its upcoming nonconference football schedules.

Among the 18 games through the 2022 season are four against FBS competition, with 10 home dates and three home-and-home series. Next year’s schedule will include home games against Chowan, Shaw, North Alabama and Wagner, along with trips to Georgetown and Coastal Carolina of the FBS Conference USA.

The Camels’ other upcoming games against FBS opponents are at Troy in 2019, at Georgia Southern in 2020 and at Liberty in 2021.

“In less than a year, our move to scholarship football has allowed us to schedule four years of FBS guarantee games, along with a great home-and-home slate of regional opponents,” Campbell athletic director Bob Roller said in the statement. “Our alumni, students and fans showed up this year in record numbers at Barker-Lane Stadium, and we look forward to adding these opponents plus a full Big South schedule for future years.”

Among the teams scheduled to visit Buies Creek, where the Camels have averaged a sellout at the 5,500-seat Barker-Lane Stadium in each of the past two seasons, are Mercer, William & Mary and in-state rivals Elon, Shaw and Davidson.

The Big South will release its 2018 conference schedule at a later date.

Campbell finished its 10th season of its modern era of football with a 6-5 record under coach Mike Minter in its final season as a member of the Pioneer Football League.
