East Carolina’s annual “Meet the Pirates” event, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed because of storms in the forecast and the likelihood of lighting across Eastern North Carolina.

The popular preseason fanfest will now be held on Saturday, August 26 — one week before ECU’s season opener against James Madison — at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. The festivities will run from 5-7 p.m.

Pirates coach Scottie Montgomery and his players will be on hand to greet fans and sign autographs on the complimentary posters and schedule cards that will be handed out at the event. Fans are also invited to attend ECU’s regular season volleyball match against Rutgers at Minges Coliseum. Game time is 7 p.m. and admission is free.
