Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson announced Wednesday that quarterback Kyle Kearns has been dismissed from the football program because of an undisclosed violation of team rules,Kearns saw action in five games as a redshirt freshman last season, starting against eventual national champion Clemson and playing most of the second half of the Deacons’ Military Bowl win against Temple. He completed only 37.1 percent of his passes (13 of 35) for 206 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions.He was likely to start the 2017 season as the No. 3 quarterback on Wake’s depth chart behind senior John Wolford and junior Kendall Hinton, both of whom were injured at one time or another a year ago.
