Notre Dame still isn’t a full-fledged member of the ACC in football. But thanks to an extension of its partnership with the conference, the Irish will continue to play five games annually against ACC opponents for at least the next 20 years. The new deal, which was announced Thursday, calls for each league team to play Notre Dame four times through the 2037 season. It continues an original agreement that began three years ago and runs through 2025. “The ACC’s football partnership with Notre Dame has been extremely successful throughout our first four seasons,” commissioner John Swofford said in a statement. “As we look to the future, these games will continue to enhance the experience for our players, schools and fans.” North Carolina will play the Irish at home in 2026 and 2031 while traveling to South Bend in 2030 and 2036. The Tar Heels also have previously scheduled games against the Irish this fall (on Oct. 7 in Chapel Hill), in 2021 at Notre Dame and 2022 at home. NC State, which beat the Irish at Carter-Finley Stadium in a hurricane last season and will play them again at home in 2023 and on the road in 2025, have added games against Notre Dame to its schedule in 2029 and 2035 in Raleigh, and 2031 and 2037 in South Bend. Duke’s newly added games against the Irish will be played in 2027 and 2033 at Wallace Wade Stadium, and 2030 and 2035 at Notre Dame while Wake Forest will get home games in 2027 and 2037 to go along with trips to South Bend in 2029 and 2037. The Blue Devils’ previously scheduled games in the series are in 2019 and 2023 at home, and 2020 on the road. The Deacons are already set to play at the Irish on Nov. 4 this season with home games set for 2018 and 2020. Notre Dame is a full member of the ACC in all sports other than football.
