Justin Jackson was named the ACC’s men’s basketball Player of the Week on Monday as he continues his late surge toward a potentially bigger honor at season’s end. The North Carolina junior, who has become a leading candidate for the league’s Player of the Year award, was recognized for the second time this year after scoring 20 or more points in wins against Louisville and Pittsburgh. Jackson scored a game-high 21 points, with five rebounds, two assists and two steals against the Cardinals last Wednesday before hitting for 23 points and six boards against the Panthers, in a game that helped the Tar Heels clinch at least a tie for the ACC regular season title. The 6-foot-8 wing hit on nine 3-pointers for the week while reaching the 20-point mark for the 15th and 16th times this season. Joining Jackson on the ACC’s weekly honor roll is Miami’s Bruce Brown, who earned his second Rookie of the Week award by averaging 19.5 points in two games.
